Iluka and Maclean in repeat final

IN A repeat of last year's grand final Iluka's Mossy Marlins will go into this weekend's Lower Clarence Netball Association's season decider against Maclean Bottom Pub confident of victory.

Finishing first at the end of the regular season, the Marlins, who are the youngest team in the competition, scraped home against Maclean Fitness Matters 33-30 in the major semi-final

The stats point to an Iluka win, with the Marlins netting 73 more goals and conceding 51 less than their grand final rivals.

But their opponents shouldn't be underestimated. Maclean Bottom Pub is  most capable of causing a boilover, after they finished third in the regular season just five points behind.

They accounted for Maclean Argyle 43-20 in the minor semi-final, before proving their form with a nail-biting 35-34 win over Maclean Fitness Matters in last weekend's preliminary final.

Iluka came out on top earlier in the season, picking up a 30-28 win in round 7, followed by a 31-23 win in round 12.

Meanwhile, the Maclean High School Open's team which won the Daily Examiner Challenge is  in Sydney competing in the NSW CHS State Knockout.

They have only been beaten in one game, to Westfield Sports, and will play off for fifth position today.

Three of the Maclean High team play for the Iluka Marlins.
