Clarence's Miss Photogenic

CLARENCE girl Renae Mackenzie has wowed audiences in Sydney to be crowned Miss Photogenic Australia.

To win the title Renae, 17, of Iluka, competed against 15 other girls from around Australia in the Miss Teen Australia competition.

The event at the Pink Salt restaurant in Double Bay was attended by more than 100 people. Nervous tension was evident – parents and competitors alike.

The event was Renae’s second major competition, which included two days of the girls completing photo shoots and bonding.

During the pre-judging round, Renae was put through her paces before seven judges who asked her a range of questions.

“I was really nervous about the questions, but I answered them as best I could,” Renae said.

Renae’s parents, Jeff and Maria, said they were proud of their daughter.

“It has been great to watch her confidence grow,” Maria said.

On the night Renae wore a floor-length multi-coloured gown, sponsored by Michael Gates at Lismore Bridal for the formal category, and a black off-the-shoulder number sponsored by Podium, at Yamba, for the cocktail round.

“Any of the girls could have easily won, but she was a stand-out, she shone from the rest,” Maria said.
