Local hockey juniors impress for state selection

FIVE LOCAL juniors have proven Grafton continues to be a junior hockey stronghold.

Brayden Lollback, Josh Rose, Kyle McIlveen, Reece Gaddes and Zac Young gained selected in a range of junior state teams which will compete in representative games later this year.

Gaddes and Young will be able to take their current combination into the under-13s New South Wales team which will travel to Melbourne for the Australian Championships in late September.

McIlveen might have missed out on the trip to Melbourne, but will represent the U13s Blues against Queensland's development teams in an upcoming tournament.

Lollback, who was chosen in the U14 Blues team, and Rose, goalkeeper for the U15s Blues, will also play against Queensland.

The State of Origin-style hockey series will be played on the North Coast in September.
