Fined after non-attendance

THREE women were taken to court in Grafton this week on charges of failing to ensure children in their care were attending school.

One woman, who failed to attend court and was found guilty in her absence, was fined $400, ordered to pay $76 in court costs and professional costs of $330.

Charges against the two other women were adjourned.

Bail refused

AN extensive criminal history and a previous failure to appear in court helped convince Magistrate Michael Katon to refuse bail to a man charged with indictable break and enter and a stealing offence.

Daniel Hornberg appeared in the Grafton Local Court this week to face the charges. He is due to appear in court again on February 8.

Men to pay compensation

TWO men will have to come up with $3500 for Grafton Shoppingworld after pleading guilty this week to maliciously destroying or damaging property. Taylor Pascoe and Gavin George were also placed on two year good behaviour bonds.

Magistrate Michael Dakon said a perspex display panel at Shoppingworld was irreparably damaged when Pascoe and George got involved in a bit of push and shove with a stranger.
