Injured Swan Kurt Tippett on ice for rest of pre-season

SYDNEY forward Kurt Tippett has been ruled out of the NAB Challenge, but is expected to be fit for round one of the new season.

Tippett (pictured) injured his right tibia/fibula joint during last Friday's intra-club game at Marrickville and is expected to miss four weeks of training.

The Swans begin their NAB Challenge series with a game against Brisbane in Coffs Harbour on Friday night but Swans football manager Tom Harley told AFL.com.au: "Kurt has had an outstanding pre-season, so we don't expect this setback to significantly impact his readiness for round one.

"He is likely to sit out our three NAB Challenge matches but at this stage remains on track for round one."

The news was better in the west of Sydney with co-captain Phil Davis re-signing with the Giants until the end of the 2018 season.

"It was a pretty easy decision for myself," Davis said.
