Injury-hit side eager to grab win
GRAFTON Redmen are heading into their match at Lennox Head full of confidence despite last week's season-opening loss.
The Redmen are keen to correct their early season setback, but will have to contend with several injury-enforced changes to do it.
Coach Don Darke said the team should be able to account for the injuries, but knew it was going to be a tough game.
"We'll be missing Ben Stone, Scott Lloyd, Tom Tanner and Tony Baldwin for starters," Darke said.
"As a result the forwards and the backline need to be shuffled so some guys from second grade will be getting their chance in the top grade.
"Jayden Darke is one who stepped up to cover last week and has been given his shot, while Kane Dickson should be good."
Dickson was singled out by Stone in the leadup to last week's match as playing a big role in the team's fortunes.
He succumbed to a groin injury before that game but by all accounts should be a certain starter today.
"I think we will be fine as far as the centres go but we obviously lose a little bit with Stoney out," Darke said.
"We have two young guys stepping up on the wing that should go alright."
The back row has also needed a reshuffle, with American import Ben Thomas to start at flanker and Jacob Page back in the top squad.
