Inverell crash claims life of man

POLICE will prepare a report for the Coroner following a fatal crash in the New England region last night (Thursday 5 May).

Just after 6.30pm, a Holden Commodore sedan was travelling north on Old Bundarra Road, south of Inverell, when it crossed to the incorrect side of the roadway then crashed into a tree.

The crash was discovered a short time later by a passer-by who contacted emergency services.

The driver, a 44-year-old local man, was released from the vehicle but later pronounced dead at Inverell Hospital.

Police are now investigating all circumstances surrounding the crash.
