Investigation after fire breaks out in six-storey building
An investigation is under way into a fire which broke out on the ground floor of a six-level office building on the Mooloolaba Esplanade early Monday.
Signs of the fire are obvious inside the Mooloolaba Osteopathy and Massage Clinic this morning.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said two crews responded just after 4am to find the fire at the rear of the building, located on the Esplanade near Brisbane and Beach roads.
A fire investigator is reportedly due to arrive about 8am and will work to determine the cause of the blaze.
"We arrived just after 4am and the fire was under control about half and hour later," the QFES spokeswoman said.
"Just after 4.30am we were dampening down hot spots and started to ventilate the building, including the adjoining premises in that building.
"No one was reported to have been in the building."
Police also responded after reports of flames coming from a window, but a Queensland Police Service spokesman said QFES was the lead authority.
The spokesman said QPS awaits instruction from the fire investigator on whether or not to declare a crime scene.
Paramedics were called, but Queensland Ambulance Service reported no one required ambulance treatment or transport from the scene.
