Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in Yamba on Saturday.

About 1pm, police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command attended a car park on Treelands Dr following reports of a stabbing.

Upon arrival police located a 28-year-old man with stab wounds to his arm and back.

He was taken to Maclean Hospital where he received stitches for his injuries.

Shortly after the incident, a 24-year-old woman attended Yamba Police Station where she was arrested.

She was later released without charge pending further inquiries.
