INXS and Pharrell Williams top ARIA charts' mid-year results

INXS and Pharrell Williams' Happy are the top performing releases of the year so far.

ARIA today released its mid-year Top 100 albums and singles lists and Australia's renewed love affair with INXS has made the band's greatest hits album the top performing album of the year so far.

The Aussie rock band managed to pip the soundtrack to Disney's hit film Frozen, which has captivated young girls around the world thanks to the hit song Let It Go.

Pharrell Williams' infectious worldwide hit Happy topped the singles list and Williams' album GIRL came in at No 5.

He also made the singles list for his collaboration with French electro duo Daft Punk on their song Get Lucky.

The first half of 2014 saw 24 singles and 35 albums by Australian artists appear in the ARIA Top 100, a significant improvement on 2013 when 13 singles and 27 albums by Australian artists appeared on the Top 100 chart.

Aussie RnB export Iggy Azalea had two songs in the Top 20 singles, while pop punk wonders 5 Seconds of Summer, who today announced a national tour for June 2015, came in at No 10 with their song She Looks So Perfect.
