Ipswich heavy baby comes close to Rocky's baby Ollie weight

A BABY born at an Ipswich hospital has taken out the record for the hospital's heaviest baby, but he's missed out on the Queensland record.

The Queensland Times reported an Ipswich couple welcomed baby Jake on Tuesday, whose weight was about 6.04kg in the metric system - a full 2.6kg more than the average Australian newborn.

However, Jake is not the heaviest on record with Rockhampton baby Ollie Stock weighing 6.76kg when he was born in February 2013. 

Oliver is thought to be a Queensland record breaker after weighing in at 6.76kg (14.14lbs) when he was born at Rockhampton's Mater hospital on February 4, 2013.
