Its all uphill for car club

THE Grafton Sporting Car Club will be conducting the first round of the club's hillclimb championship at the Mountain View complex tomorrow, starting about 9.30am.

This will be one of five club rounds, plus a round of the NSW State Hillclimb Championship to be held on the long weekend in June.

Entry to the track is free for the club rounds and a small entry fee payable for the state round.

The club will have full canteen facilities each meeting. Pit areas are open for the public to view the cars and talk to the drivers.

Normally each driver can have at least four to five runs up the difficult climb. The age of drivers range from 16 to 78 years.

The cars range from open wheelers, Escorts, Fords, Commodores, BMWs and WRXs and other makes.

If you have a P-plate licence and/or full licence, all you need is a racing licence, a fire extinguisher fitted in the car, long pants, long-sleeve shirt, approved helmet and be a member of a car club.

The club meets every second Thursday of the month at Roaches hotel at 7.30pm. This includes people interested in kart racing.
