Prepare for mayhem as Grafton parties on Jacaranda Thursday
JACARANDA Thursday is one of the highlights of the Jacaranda Festival in Grafton and newcomers should be prepared for blocked streets and mayhem as Grafton hits party mode for Australia's oldest floral festival.
Make sure you start early, wear sunscreen and hydrate yourselves well. Happy Jacaranda from DEX.
Jaca Thursday - the plan
6am - Free breakfast at Market Square, Grafton
8am-2pm - Jaca Markets at Pound St carpark (behind Clocktower Hotel). More than 90 stalls, kids rides, stallholders dressing to theme. Stall registrations have closed.
8am-12pm - businesses in the Grafton CBD dress up, put on silly shows and activities for big and small kids and generally have a laugh.
9-11am - Buskers Competition - variety of buskers located in and around Prince St, Grafton.
10am-12noon - Jacaranda Talen Quest at Market Square. Pre-registration is essential for entrants as places are limited. Registrations forms at Radio 2GF.
12noon - Market Square presentation of festive shop performances and judging of the Gold Cup
1pm onwards - Concert in the Square - Siskin River and various artists perform at Market Square.
1pm - Push Cart Derby. Different categories of races - parent and child, young people and all ages. Rego forms available at jacarandafestival.org.au. Registration at 48 Prince St between 11am and 12.30pm. Entry fee $10.
