Jail build boss back in valley as guest speaker

THE head of the group that will oversee construction of the new jail will be back in Grafton next week to address business leaders.

The project director for the new Grafton Correctional Centre, Greg Lake, from Projects NSW (Infrastructure NSW), has been invited to to speak at Grafton Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting on March 16.

It will be the third time Mr Lake has visited the region in the past six weeks to consult with community groups about the project.

He attended two community consultation meetings at Tucabia early in February, then returned to take part in the Council's Roundtable meeting later in the month.

A spokesperson from Infrastructure NSW said Mr Lake will brief the Chamber and take part in a question and answer session, and will continue to liaise with the Chamber as planning for the project progresses.

To keep the broader community informed, there will be a range of activities in coming months including community meetings and drop-in sessions at various locations in Grafton and near the site, and updates through newsletters, emails and letters.

Chamber committee member Mark Butler said it was important Mr Lake come to a chamber meeting to talk to businesses on their own terms.
