Results of Grafton jail poll could be known today

THE results of a ballot of prison officers on issues including the future of Grafton jail could be known today.

Yesterday members of Prison Officers Vocational Branch of the Public Service Association voted on issues surrounding workers compensation legislation, which included a demand both Grafton and Kirkconnel jails be recommissioned as soon as possible.

A PSA spokeswoman said POVB members voted on information given to them following a meeting between PSA officials, NSW Attorney General Brad Hazzard and Finance Minister Dominic Perrottet on Friday.

She said the reopening the jails was an option.
