Jane and Emma nail MKR redemption
THE My Kitchen Rules' redemption round finally had its first true comeback tonight.
Melbourne flat mates Jane and Emma scored a whopping 92 points, the highest score in any of the instant restaurant rounds so far this season.
The "polar opposite" friends worked on their time management, the lack of which caused rocketing stress in the kitchen during their last instant restaurant.
They started the night by serving a near-perfect pasta to judges Manu Feildel and Pete Evans.
"This is the redemption round and you're supposed to redeem yourself," Manu said.
"I'm not happy. I'm amazed. You girls have done an amazing job. The pasta was silky, al dente. The fact that you made this ravioli for all of us is a lot of work."
Around the dinner table tensions flared when Kat admitted she and her partner Andre scored other teams strategically to stay on the show.
But then Lloyd performed a disappearing ring trick to life the mood.
The irony of Annie's constant hints at her desire to get engaged wasn't lost on the table.
Jane and Emma maintained the high standard with their main course, which Pete equated to a restaurant quality dish.
"We often say you first eat with your eyes. It didn't look good but it tasted damn good," Manu said.
"The flavour on one fork with some shredded pork, some vegetable and some beautiful apple cider jus was an explosion of flavour in my mouth. It was yum after yum after yum."
Jane made inroads into reclaiming her dessert queen crown, but it was the weakest dish of the night.
Katie and Nikki weren't impressed with Jane making a similar marscapone ice cream to the one they served last week.
"I love the flavour of the lemon in there," Pete said.
"For me it would have been a stronger dessert without the ice cream
"All in all a great way to finish your three courses tonight but not your strongest dish."
Kat and Andre will cook tomorrow night in Perth.
