Jennifer Hawkins starts big years with big tequila shot

MYER ambassador Jennifer Hawkins is preparing for what will be one of her biggest years professionally.

Talking ahead of today's Myer Autumn launch, Hawkins said she had secured a deal to launch her tequila brand Sesion, which she co-owns with husband Jake Wall and business partner Tim Freeburn, in the US in April.

The model and business owner planned to roll out a range of products in Australia for her self-tanning brand J Bronze two months later, saying a US expansion was "on the wishlist".

"With my brands, I am really stepping forward this year," Hawkins said.

"With Sesion, it's really exciting to have a distributor over there (in the US) and you never know with J Bronze, that's on the wishlist."

Hawkins said that while her work was part of her lifestyle, she had placed an importance on family, who congregated at her Sydney home over Christmas before she and Wall took a lengthy break in the Maldives.

When it comes to starting her own family, she said: "It's a special time between two people and it's really nice to have that stay between two people, but Jake and I are having a great time."

Hawkins will take centre stage at tonight's Myer launch in Melbourne, which will feature fashion moments, rather than a traditional runway show.

"The space (a university lawn) is incredible. It's really just raw and mysterious," she said. "I haven't seen the choreography yet, so I don't know what to expect."

Labels on the runway will include Alex Perry, Toni Maticevski and Queensland's Aje, while Hawkins will wear earrings by Brisbane jeweller Christie Nicolaides on the red carpet.
