Jet ski win sends 82-year-old Marianne flying

THE only thing standing between Marianne Mingonie and her brand-spanking jet-ski, is a double hip replacement and the inability to swim.

And while the 82-year-old Yamba woman won't be tearing down the Clarence River on board the Sea-Doo - a prize from the Grafton Motor Group - she was still pretty excited to have had her name drawn out of the barrell.

"I was just excited to think I had won something," Marianne said.

"This kind of thing doesn't come round very often."

Marianne said travel was something she enjoyed and hoped to tour Australia in her new Suzuki APV she bought from the Grafton Motor Group.

Grafton Motor Group dealer principal Michael Anstee said everyone who bought a vehicle from January to March went into a draw to win the jet ski.

"We had over 140 entries," Mr Anstee said.

"Marianne's was the lucky ticket."

Marianne said she would have to sell the jet ski and trailer, valued at $8550, because she could not use it.

"It took me two days to realise it wasn't an April fool's joke," she said.

Marianne thanked the Grafton Motor Group for the Sea-Doo jet ski and her new van. Mr Anstee said they were looking forward to further promotions.
