THE Newcastle Jets have received a much-needed boost ahead of their clash against Perth at Hunter Stadium on Sunday, re-signing Young Socceroo Mitch Oxborrow.
Oxborrow has recommitted until the end of next season, and the club has also signed local product Brandon Lundy for an extra two seasons beyond the current.
The Jets lost their opening clash of the season 2-0 to Sydney FC last Friday night.
Oxborrow was a member of the Young Socceroos squad that recently competed at the Asian Under-19 Championship qualifying tournament in Malaysia.
The central midfielder said he was pleased to extend his stay in Newcastle for another season.
"I like playing under Gary (van Egmond) and I think we're building a strong squad here, so it's a good environment for me to be in at this point of my career," Oxborrow said.
Jets chief executive Robbie Middleby said Lundy had forced his way into the first team.
"Brandon did extremely well for the youth team in the NBN State League this season and has impressed the coaching staff when he has trained with the first team," he said. "He's a Newcastle boy and it's fantastic to have another local product graduating from the youth team to the A-League squad."
