Editorial - Tuesday, September 3: Jim’s looking out for us

WHAT a great moment for Yamba and for long-time campaigner Jim Agnew yesterday.

We've made no secret in recent weeks of our admiration for the man who fought long, hard and tirelessly to get the services his community needs.

I'm in constant amazement at people like Jim who dedicate their time for the betterment of their area and in a time where election mud gets thrown from all directions, it's fantastic to see an outcome on a project.

We're also pleased it will be named after the man who fought hard to make it happen.

  • In election news, Joe Hockey's comments have certainly caused a stir.

Warren Truss played down their significance on Sunday, insisting the Coalition was united.

But saying the Nationals without Liberals would be "like a voice in the wilderness" strikes a chord in regional Australia, especially after suspicions aroused by the behaviour of the NSW government.

The key question is, who is really looking out for us?
