Jobseeker gets his marching orders from boys in blue
AN IPSWICH jobseeker, who has spent the past three days braving cold mornings trying to find a job, has hit a considerable road block - in the form of the boys in blue.
He said he was congratulated by an officer for his initiative on Wednesday but Trevor Hayman was given his marching orders by the police yesterday morning.
Mr Hayman was fined for parking illegally by the side of Brisbane Rd, Bundamba, and received a considerable fine for driving an unregistered vehicle.
"I'm feeling a little bit down about the whole thing," he said of the fines totally more than $500.
"I was keen to stay out there until I had a job, so I am not sure what to do now.
"The officer was very abrupt with me. He told me that I am not even allowed to have a cardboard sign. I was only there to get a job - now I've got some fines to pay instead."
Several motorists pulled over to offer job leads to Mr Hayman - as well as offer their moral support for what he was doing - for the two-and-a-bit days he spent parked on Brisbane Rd asking for help. Although encouraged by the feedback from the general public, Mr Hayman is yet to find a job.
