John in the frame for grand final

THE FATHER and son combination of John and Jake Frame could well hold the key to a South victory against Easts in the second grade grand final.

John may be in his twilight years as a cricketer but his experience and ability to perform in the big games spells danger for a young Easts’ side.

Since the 1986 season Frame has picked up the prestigious First Grade Player of the Year award on nine occasions and can change the course of a game with bat or ball.

While Jake is one of the Valley’s most promising talents and in the major semi against Easts took 8-30. Easts scraped through to the decider after a nail-biting will against Westlawn.

Their opening bowling combination of Jason Limbert and Riley Winter are sure to keep South honest.

On his day Easts aggressive opener Shannon Connor can dismantle the best bowling attacks and has the ability to turn a game. South’s veteran batsman Billy Wynn will be hoping to shed his bridesmaid dress.

And yes he actually has one courtesy of Coutts Crossing who presented him one at the presentation night a few years ago after another failed attempt to win a Second Grade premiership.

Defending Third Grade title holders Coutts Crossing have been the benchmark all season. Finishing the season well on top Coutts hit a stumbling block in the major semi-final when they were soundly defeated by Easts Green.

Coutts have a formative batting line-up led by Owen Turner, Paul Ensbey and Al Green but will need to negate pace and bounce of Easts’ fiery opening bowler Chris Payne. Easts bat right down and have the classy Darren Fish.
