Judge allows riot evidence

The judge hearing the case of nine men charged in relation to the Yamba riot ruled this morning to allow important police evidence to be admitted to the court.

Magistrate John Andrews ruled this morning that police were trespassing when they collected evidence of the Valentine's Day riots in Yamba last year, but still allowed the evidence collected during that trespass to be admitted.

He said the alleged response from the defendants was disproportionate to the trespass.

The trial continues with legal argument today.
