FOREIGN Minister Julie Bishop wrangles diplomatic minefields every day, but she was clearly caught off guard when asked if she would bare her breasts for the Bali Nine smugglers facing execution.

Overnight, ABC panel show QandA had its first all-women panel, including Ms Bishop and feminist provocateur Germaine Greer.

An audience member asked for the panel's view on the "free the nipple" social media movement that involves women, particularly younger women, baring their breasts in an act of defiance.

Ms Greer said while she wouldn't do it herself, she thought it was "an experiment with strategies" for young activists while Ms Bishop said it was not something she ever had any desire to do.

"I'm quite adept at my emoji language, and that's about as radical as I get," she said.

Cue Ms Greer's question of the night: "But what if you got the commutation of the life sentences for two Australians?" referring to the fate of Bali Nine traffickers Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.

After a shocked response from the audience and fellow panellists, Ms Bishop responded coolly.

"Please don't go there Germaine, please don't go there," she said.

The panel was hosted by ABC favourite Annabelle Crabb.

Aside from Ms Greer and Ms Bishop, the panel included writer Roxane Gay, Best and Less chief Holly Kramer and Muslim and youth activist Yassmin Abdel-Magied.
