Jungle Gym the team to beat in race on the Clarence

ALL eyes will turn to the Clarence River on October 27 as the Valley prepares to crown its new Jacaranda Dragon Boat champion.

President of the Grafton Dragon Boat Club Martin Thompson said the Jungle Gym Grafton crew would be the bunch to beat, having taken out the community teams' title two years in a row.

Mr Thompson rated The Daily Examiner Dragons as an outside chance at best.

"I haven't seen them (The Daily Examiner Dragons) paddle this year but considering how they went last year let's just say they can only improve," Mr Thompson said.

"But all jokes aside the team to beat will be Jungle Gym."

Mr Thompson said the course would be altered this time round to allow for better viewing from the grandstand next to the Grafton Rowing Club.

And he was hopeful the community would turn out to watch on the day.

If you would like to enter a team you can phone Mr Thompson on 0438 453 794 or register online by visiting www.graftondragon boatclub.org and following the links.
