Juniors show way

SOUTH Grafton Rebels and Lower Clarence Magpies had forgettable seasons in first grade, but their junior teams have had an awesome year.

The Rebels will fly Clarence Valley flag in three grades at the junior grand finals, with the under-10s, 11s and 13s all qualifying.

Clarence Coast Magpies will take on Marist Brothers in the U16s final.

To say the Rebels are proud of their junior clubs is an understatement, as president Karen Taunton and U11s coach Terry Slis beamed with enthusiasm about the teams' achievements.

"Isn't it great?" Taunton said. "There's quite a few good players here and we know of other players who want to join.

"If we can keep most of the players here, then we'll have some very strong teams in the next few years."

South Grafton Rebels will hold their presentation day next Saturday, September 21, at McKittrick Park.
