Kalani wins bronze medal at state titles

CONGRATULATIONS to Yamba Nipper Kalani Ives who placed third in the final of the under-11 female board race and sixth in the under-11s iron woman final at the NSW Junior Surf Life Saving Championships at Umina.

Jordan Elabbasi also performed admirably placing 12th in the final of the under-14 male surf race and younger brother Malik Elabbasi placed 22nd in the final of the under-11 male surf race.

Good luck to the Yamba SLSC Masters and Opens competitors participating in the NSW State Titles in Umina this week.

Well done to Rhys Comerford, Pierre de Billot, Jill Ennever, Kevin Hasey, Morgan Holloway, Helmut Klein, Chris Moran, Helen Morris, Kirsten O’ Connor and Alan Schofield who successfully completed their spinal management course on the weekend. Thank you to Geoff Horsey, Larry Platt and Kim Morgans for running the course.

18 swimmers took part in last Sunday’s Carl Schaeffer Handicap Swim. Chris Dougherty, off 200 seconds took 1st place, Paul Quirk, off 110 seconds placed 2nd and Brett Sahlqvist, 190 seconds, 3rd. This surf swim is held every Sunday morning with registrations at 11am at the front of the clubhouse and the race starting at 11.30am.

Yamba SLSC meat raffles are on every Saturday evening at the Yamba Golf and Country Club. This Saturday Bob Darby, Jo and Grant Bennett and Rick Harris will be selling tickets from 5.30pm with the draw starting at 6.30pm. With 33 fantastic meat trays to be won, go along and try your luck! More people are needed to assist with running the meat raffles.

If you are able to help out, please contact Narelle at the surf club’s office so you can be added to the raffles roster.

This Sunday is the Nippers Club Championships. Parents are required to be at Main Beach to assist with setting up at 7.30am, with competition starting at 9.30am. This is a fun morning of friendly competition for all Yamba Nippers.

The Nippers end of season presentation and AGM are being held on Sunday, 20th March in the upstairs of the Clubhouse starting at 9.30am.
