Karakatsanis in hot water with stewards at Grafton
Sydney trainer Con Karakatsanis is in hot water with stewards again following the discovery of tubing equipment in his possession at stables in Grafton.
Inspectors from the Racing NSW Surveillance Unit and stewards carried out surprise stable inspections in Coffs Harbour and Grafton yesterday morning.
Shortly after 8am, inspectors and stewards Mark Holloway and Drew Smith visited the Grafton stables occupied by Karakatsanis.
Racing NSW deputy chief steward Greg Rudolph confirmed tubing equipment and "other substances" had been confiscated from Karakatsanis.
"The inspectors and stewards observed Con Karakatsanis with tubing gear during a stable inspection shortly after 8am," Rudolph said. "We have opened an inquiry and Con Karakatsanis was interviewed before the first race at Grafton.
"We are satisfied Klisstra (to run Thursday) has not been treated within the one clear day rule."
