Editorial - Friday, August 29: Keep the support going

THE Daily Examiner's Our Valley promotion throughout August has hopefully put the spotlight on the importance of doing business locally.

And not just for one month, but all year round.

One of the ideas behind the promotion was to emphasise the impact local businesses, big and small, have on the economy of the Clarence Valley.

Their impact is felt widely through the wages they pay to employees being spent, by the ordering of stock from local suppliers, and by giving jobs to local contractors.

It is an effect worth remembering next time you are shopping.

Another part of the promotion has been the competition to win $2000.

That competition closes on Sunday so you have just a couple of days to shop at one of the participating stores and put your entry into the box in their store or one of the barrels at Shoppingworld.

The winner will be drawn next week and there are already many thousands of entries but it may be someone who shops in the next few days who is the big winner.

Good luck to everyone entered, and thanks for supporting local businesses.
