Keyra’s mum says let these horrible killers just rot in jail
WHEN Keyra's killer Leonard John Fraser died, Treasa Steinhardt wasn't happy - she was angry.
The serial killer was sentenced to life in jail for the murder of the nine-year-old school girl.
But the monster only served eight years.
While the recent conviction of Daniel Morcombe's murderer Brett Peter Cowan has sparked calls for harsher penalties, Treasa doesn't support bringing back the death penalty.
"A lot of people might disagree and want an eye for an eye, but it doesn't really accomplish anything," she said.
"When he died, I got no satisfaction. I believe in people rotting in jail."
Treasa said she would like to see judges given the power to hand out sentences with no parole.
"Just because they're given 10 or 20 years, there has to be a clause where we can increase that," she said.
She also believed too much taxpayer money was spent looking after convicted criminals.
"They eat healthier than I do, they don't have to pay rent like I do, they don't have to work like I do," she said.
"They get better treatment than us.
"Bring back the old times... no television, no radio just a bed and a toilet."
