Your Story: Kids get stuck into mill mud

THE Mill Mud Drive is on again at Harwood Island Public School.

This is the school's annual major fundraiser and this year funds will be used to update the school library.

The mud drive has been going for more than 20 years thanks to the generosity of the NSW Sugar Milling Co-operatives Harwood Mill which donates 30 tonnes of mud to the school every year.

The mud is shovelled into 20kg bags by the students and their parents for sale to the public.

It is an ideal soil conditioner which improves moisture retention in sandy soils and helps to break up clay soils.

Bags are $4.50 each or five for $20. Orders are essential, phone 6646 4213 between 9am-3pm weekdays.

All orders must be picked up from the school on August 31 from 10am-1pm or weekday afternoons this week from 3.30-5pm.
