They will allege he was driving a road train which collided with Dr Pearson on the Millmerran Inglewood Rd while he was competing in a cycling race on the afternoon of April 25.

"Obviously a large number of inquiries have been made over the last 10 to 12 weeks, including forensic evidence, witness statements and a lot of inquiries with the Main Roads department," Detective Sergeant Tamblyn said.

He said the man's truck was seized on June 12 for forensic investigation.

The man's home was also searched and items seized the same day.

Det. Sgt Tamblyn said extensive police work had led to the arrest.

"Basically, there was certain evidence left at the scene which included a spotlight but other than that there wasn't a real lot of evidence to start the investigation."

The man is due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow.
