Teen busts koala trying to drive family car

FEAR not, the animal uprising is not upon us, but, a koala has tried to 'carjack' a family car in Victoria.

In one of many 'only-in-Australia' moments, a schoolboy from Maude, not far from Geelong, returned home to find the furry friend staring back at him while behind the wheel of the family Land Rover.

Sam Box, 15, told Nine News that he had just hopped off the school bus when he noticed the koala "trying to drive".

Quick-thinking Sam got out his camera and started snapping the 'carjacking attempt'.

To make it even funnier, the koala was snapped sitting in the driver's seat with its paws firmly on the steering wheel.

The teen told Nine that it was common to find a koala or two hanging around the area.

"We see them a fair bit here but never in the car," he said.

"It was checking me out as much as I was checking him out."

When it was time for it to leave the car, the too-cool-for-school koala just hopped out and walked away.

The photos have already inspired a few memes online. So far this one is our favourite:
