Labor hits out at regulator abolition

LABOR has accused the Coalition of "playing politics with people's emotions" over government plans to abolish the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal.

The plans to abolish the regulator follow a Coalition backbench outcry over its decision to increase minimum wages for truck drivers, which could affect owner-drivers nationwide.

Opposition frontbencher Brendan O'Connor made the comment on Monday, saying further that the government should try "to work through the differences", rather than outright abolish the Labor-initiated regulator. - ARM NEWSDESK
