Landenberger named Top Cat at Boreen Point

SOME of the best multihull sailors in Australia descended on Boreen Point on the weekend for the annual Sunstate Hobie Cat Challenge.

The Top Cat award went to Andrew Landenberger from the NSW Clarence River Sailing Club.

An Olympic silver medallist and world champion in various classes, Landenburger is one of the world's leading multi-hull sailors.

The winner of the 2012 A-Class Catamaran European Championship, Landenberger was a clear winner in this event by scoring six firsts (including the one at the weekend) and one second place in his division.

The event was originally conceived to settle an ongoing club argument as to which brand of boat was the fastest - Arrows or Paper Tigers.

Later on, however, the event became open for all classes of catamaran and then incorporated individual division winners with the standout individual performer named the Top Cat.
