Lane stars at both ends for new-look Iluka

LCCA CRICKET: An unbeaten 36 runs from Iluka middle-order hitter Josh Lane, supported well by all-rounder Jason Allen (20*) has seen the side cruise to the Maclean United total of 111 with nine overs to spare.

It was not all smooth sailing for the Iluka batsman who lost opener Dominic Faddy to a duck in the first over of the day before wicket keeper Brendan James (18) and Aidan Daniels (16) righted the run chase on home turf.

It was a perfect afternoon for Lane who had earlier chipped in with the ball removing a dangerous Alex Moffit (17) who was settling in to a partnership with opener, and top scorer, Dean Moran (37). Lane finished with figures of three for 17 from five overs.

Allen (two for 24 off eight) had also started the innings off well with the ball bowling tight lines and removing dangerous top order batsman and United captain Jarrad Moran (1).

Glen Clark (three for 29 off eight) performed admirably with the ball for his new club United, and claimed bragging rights over former captain at Brushgrove, James, when he had the wicket keeper trapped in front of the stumps.

Iluka won by four wickets.
