Last call for netball sign-up

PREPARATIONS are beginning for our season opener on March 21.

If you have not already signed up, there is a second netball sign-on day for all clubs on Saturday, from noon to 2pm at the netball courts in Bacon Street. Anyone from five to 95 years of age can play netball. If you do not have a team, please let your delegate know and a team can be found for you.

GNA is also very interested to create a high school boys' division. Grafton High School already has two teams. I would like to put the call out to South Grafton High and the local private high schools to match the call from the GHS lads.

If you are unsure which club you could play for, please call me on 0419 535 738 and I will put you in touch with your delegate.

Saturday will be your last chance to register before the season begins.

Rep update

TRAINING for all girls continues on Sunday from 4pm to 6pm. As there is just a fortnight until the Grafton rep carnival, all parents are required to attend a meeting at the courts on Sunday at 6pm.

This is to discuss team photos & further details of the day. So it is important that at least one parent from each family be there to get the information. The GNA rep carnival is to be held at the netball courts on March 28 and 29.

Elite teams from across northern NSW will compete at the carnival.

Just a reminder an umpire development workshop and practical umpiring session will also be held on March 28 and 29. All umpires - new and experienced - are invited to attend, including GNA rep girls.

Presenters are members of the Netball NSW umpires education and development team.

If you require further information please contact Marg Hayward on 6642 1181 (AH).

Coaching development

A COACHING development session will be held on March 21 between 6pm and 8.30pm. This is a great course for anyone coaching teams at all levels this year.

The presenter will be Dianne Donavan from Netball NSW and it will be about 'making decisions'. Cost is $10 and it is to be held at the Grafton Indoor Sports and Entertainment Centre in Hoof Street. Please call Cathy on 6642 7518 if you are interested in attending.

Further, a coaching foundation course will be held the following day from 9am to 3pm. This is mandatory for all coaches who have not attended this course previously. Cost is $75, of which your club and GNA will partly subsidise.

Prior to attending this course, you must have completed a free online coaching skills course - http://www.ausport.gov.au/participating/coaches/education/onlinecoach.

Interested in coaching at netball clinics for primary school children? Positions are available for development officers to work in the schools program across our region. The full position description and how to apply look on the Netball NSW website in positions vacant or call Rebecca Bulley on 9646 5666.

Premier League hunt

GNA is seeking a suitably interested person to coach the Grafton Premier League team. You may also be a player/coach. If you are interested, please call Cathy on 6642 7518 prior to March 16. Once a coach has been selected, we will then call for interested players for the team. Competition is due to commence May 2.

Next general meeting is to be held at the clubhouse on March 16 at 7pm. All are welcome.
