Last squadron casualty of the war

Lady Luck frowned on navigator W/O Keith Lambert Hamilton of Mackay when he and his pilot were killed in action over Norway on 26th April 1945, just days before World War 2 ended in Europe.

They were the last casualties of RAAF 455 Beaufighter squadron based at Dallachy in Scotland.

Keith had attended the Anzac ceremony at Dallachy the day before. He was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs J.S.Hamilton.

Before enlisting in the RAAF Keith had been a member of the Air Training Corps in Mackay.

He had been educated at Scots College in Warwick and he is to be honoured at the Centenary Warwick dawn service on Anzac day. More than 20 of his relatives will attend this special service.
