LAURA Mulligan spent this week behind the lens of The Daily Examiner's cameras to learn more about the photography craft in the newsroom.

The Year 10 student from Goondiwindi State High School in Queensland was born in Grafton. As part of her work experience she ventured out into Grafton to portray the city from her perspective.

"I wanted to do work experience with The Daily Examiner in Grafton to learn more about this lovely town," Laura said.

"To work and live here for a week was a great way to learn about the Clarence Valley.

"Some of my favourite memories are from my holidays in the Clarence Valley."

Laura enjoyed her experience which helped confirm her passion for photography.

"Growing up in rural Queensland, there aren't many opportunities in this field," she said.

"Opportunities at home are limited. So my visit to Grafton has been a major stepping stone for me."
