Leonard Cohen dead: The loss of a "visionary"

MUSICAL icon and "visionary" Leonard Cohen has died, with the news confirmed by his official Facebook page.

The author and singer of the legendary track "Hallelujah" has died at 82.

This year marked his 60th year as a musician.

 

His official Facebook page posted a confirmation of his death at lunchtime:

It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away.

We have lost one of music's most revered and prolific visionaries.

A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief.
