Lethal seamers skittle Souths for 21

TUCABIA v SOUTH SERVICES: A week from their demolition job on GDSC Easts, Tucabia-Copmanhurst GI Hotel seam duo Chris Adamson and Brad Chard put on a pace bowling clinic at Ellem Oval on Saturday.

A new-ball pairing to rival that of Walsh and Ambrose, Chard and Adamson were ruthless in their assault of the South Services batting line-up as each took a five-wicket haul to bowl out the opposition for 21 runs.

More than half of those runs were by opening pair Tom Kroehnert (6) and Dylan Cleaver (6) with the extras the next highest at 4.

It was a spongy Ellem Oval deck that supported the fast bowlers, but they were lethal in their approach, hitting the stumps four times in the innings.

It was a tough knock for South Services who had to turn to their second grade side with several players away at Schoolies celebrations.

In response, Brayden Pardoe opened the batting for Tucabia and quickly went to work, scoring runs to all parts of the ground.

Tucabia passed Services' total - securing the first innings win - with only one wicket down. Pardoe powered on to put together partnerships with 'Bucky' Buchanan and Blake Ryan before falling two runs shy of his half-century.

"(Chard and Adamson) bowled really well, the deck helped them a little bit but it wasn't an excuse for that little of a total," Pardoe said.

"Going in to bat, we just wanted to stick it out for the rest of the day, push for a big total and then have all of next week to go for the outright win.

"I didn't get much of bat last week, so it was good to have some time out there to get the eye in."

Ryan (25) and Sam Herd (25) helped push the total along, Tucabia heading into next week at 9-173.

"We'll go back in to bat and get a few more runs and just give our bowlers every chance," Pardoe said.
