Letter to the Editor - Monday, October 14: Smokers pollute river

WHAT a magnificent sight! - the might of the river Clarence along with the entertaining action of the ski boats on Sunday.

We stood patiently waiting enjoying the view and serenity before the roar and excitement of the skiers came into view. A true spectacle - what a SHAME it was spoiled and degraded by the smokers smoking near the "smoke-free" zone, one tossing his butt into our beautiful river while several others stomped out their cigarette on the ground which will also find their way into our waterways.

All this with a bin about five metres away.
