Letter to the Editor - November 12: Howard fails on climate

WHAT a pity that the former prime minister John Howard has publicly stated that the issue of climate change has been exaggerated. He has missed an opportunity to help our planet.

How much better it would have been for future generations of all life if he had used his influence on Tony Abbott to get our present Prime Minister to really listen to the scientists who would keep him aware of the immensity of the climate change issue and to the many economists who are stressing that a price on carbon and the use of market forces is far superior to Tony's expensive "direct action" approach.

To encourage Tony Abbott not only to listen but to act accordingly, John Howard could have suggested that our grandchildren's future is at stake.
