Letters to the Editor - Monday, May 12: Energetic conspiracy
THE Renewable Energy Target Review that is being conducted at the moment is a farce.
The former head of the Reserve Bank Bernie Fraser conducted a review and released his findings in December 2012.
Only he didn't come up with the right findings according to the electricity companies and coal industry that are represented by the government.
He found that the RET was doing its job well and that average Australians were benefiting.
So what does Abbott do? Orders another review to prove that renewable energy is a terrible idea and that we should all just get on board with the coal, poles and wires.
If you are less than satisfied with this, please submit a form (via solarcitizens.org.au) to the current review panel reminding them of the results of the previous review.
The coal industry is subsidised to the tune of $4.5 billion a year and yet subsidies that ARE already making power cheaper for homes and businesses are somehow not in the best interests of Australia.
Oh yeah - and there is another little benefit - a little thing called the environment - not sure Abbott and Hockey have heard of it.
