Letters to the Editor - Tuesday, November 19: Clarification

CLARENCE Valley Council general manager Scott Greensill phoned to complain about a comment in the letter from John Catesby (DEX 18/11).

The letter read: "While I have some nagging doubts about the performance of some individual councillors, it is hardly the role of the head of the executive to be putting forward to the media his recommendation for performance measures of the duly elected council members."

Mr Greensill asked us to clarify that he did not contact the media regarding the recommendation for an attendance schedule and councillor expenses breakdown.

He said it was an issue raised by The Daily Examiner, not himself, and his subsequent report reflected the issue the paper raised.

He asked us to clarify that in stories about the recommendation, quotes from Mr Greensill were taken from the report and he was not personally interviewed.
