Letter to the Editor - Tuesday, May 13: Anzac Day thanks
ANZAC Day in Grafton, like all places where services are held, can only be successful with the help of many and the involvement of the general public.
The Grafton RSL sub-branch wish to express our gratitude to the Clarence Valley Council, our local police and ambulance service, 41 Battalion RNSWR, the Salvation Army Band, the Grafton District Services Pipe Band, the Grafton District Services Club, the Very Reverend Donald Kirk, Major Colin Young, Mr Gordon Masters (Crown Hotel), councillor Craig Howe, bugler Gary Nichols, Clarence Valley Council staff, and Mr Bob Green for the PA system. To all those who have helped in many ways, a big thank you.
The address given by Captain Stephen Basely, Royal Australian Navy, was also appreciated by those at the Dawn Service.
To the other speakers - Lilli Corbett, Jessica Walters, Kurt Bloomer and Lisa O'Donohue - a great big thank you. Joseph Lynch, who presented an address to the Big River Day Club, thank you also. To the schools that were represented, a big thank you also. To The Daily Examiner for the coverage, thank you.
To the veteran community and families who marched, the pride and bearing that you displayed continues to show your respect for the traditions and commemoration of Anzac Day.
And, of course, finally, to you, the general public, a great big thank you. Your involvement and the representation by the schools, parents and teachers during school holidays were greatly appreciated.
