Lifeguard vehicle runs over pair on Gold Coast beach

A MAN and a woman in theirs 20s were taken to hospital with chest and neck injuries after being run over by a lifeguard vehicle on the beach at Surfers Paradise.

The man and woman were lying on the beach off Cavill Avenue when they were run over by the slow moving four-wheel drive on Monday afternoon.

The Gold Coast City Council says the lifeguard is cooperating with police.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating, while authorities have collected witness statements.
