Lisa’s boyfriend Tyson eliminated from I’m A Celebrity

INTREPID traveller Tyson Mayr will soon be on his way back to Queensland.

The model and charity worker, who is dating The Bachelor season two runner-up Lisa Hyde, was eliminated tonight on the eve of the reality show's final week.

Mayr was a relatively unknown, compared to the other celebrities, before going on the show, which sees stars living in a base camp in the South African bush deprived of modern comforts.

They live on a basic diet of rice and beans, competing in tucker trials to earn additional luxury items such as meat and chocolate.

"I've got a greater appreciation for the little things," he said.

"I lost eight or nine kilos in the first two to three weeks."

Known as the Naked Traveller, the former Gold Coast real estate agent earned plenty of screen time for his daily showers.

He told hosts Chris Brown and Julia Morris he didn't intentionally time his showers with the show's live broadcasts to earn viewer support.

Naturally athletic, Mayr earned 16 stars for the camp over three tucker trials.

He formed a particularly close bond with Marcia McCormick, who said Hyde was a luck woman for having such a "sensitive and wonderful" man.

Mayr said the first thing he would do tonight was ring his parents and Lisa, "while eating at the same time".

He tips either Maureen, Barry Hall or Chrissie Swan to win the show next Sunday.

Four more celebrities will be eliminated over the next four nights ahead of the finale.
