I'm The Man takes out finals
BARRY Walters-trained greyhound I'm The Man returned to his best form when he easily won the District Brake and Steering third and fourth grade final in Grafton yesterday.
I'm The Man, trained at Coutts Crossing, had to overcome box five, but this was no trouble for this talented sprinter. He began well, then raced to the lead at the first turn and came right away to win by 6-1/4 lengths in 23.15 seconds.
The odds-on favourite Tommy Cash, trained by Reg Gardoll, was never out of trouble and finished fifth.
The Iluka Bowls Club fifth grade final went to the Sarah Monaghan-trained Shot Firer, which won the dash to the first turn and then held off the Rod Sheather-trained Dinjerra Blaze to win by a half-length in 23.40. The Monaghans have certainly enjoyed plenty of success since shifting to the area recently - they have had five starters for five winners.
Three heats of the Calstar Bearings third and fourth grade were also decided.
By far the most impressive heat winner was the Reg Kay-trained Heza Nice Size, which led all the way to score by 10-1/2 lengths in a very quick 27.31.
The other two heat winners were Cathella Ice for Mark Moroney in 27.76, and Bonsai Cloud for Gavin Lowe in 27.72.
The win of Cathella Ice was the second leg of a winning double for Moroney, having earlier won the Al's Mechanical fourth and fifth grade with Cruise Oz.
