Locals rowing results show value

CLARENCE Valley had even more reason to celebrate at the NSW State Rowing Titles held at Penrith on February 6-7.

The team of Penny Elvery, Gemma Dane, Rachael Anderson and Amanda Kerr, coached by Betty Bogdanek, claimed gold medals in the women’s under-16 Quad Scull.

Other medal winners included Riley Elvery, who impressed everyone with bronze in the men’s under-19 Single Scull.

Leah Saunders and Sophie Dansie snared bronze in the women’s under-19 Double Scull and Rachael Anderson silver in the Schoolgirl Single Scull.

These results capped a fine effort by locals at the event.

Single Scull medallist’s Johanna Tarrant and Sarah Jones had earlier become what was believed to be the first ever gold and silver winning pair from the same school.
